Ram Navami falls on the ninth day of the waxing moon in Chaitra, closing Chaitra Navratri. Tradition places Rama's birth at midday, so observance peaks at noon rather than dawn or dusk. Readings of the Ramayana, particularly the Bala Kanda, run through the day.
