1. Who we are

JyotishWay (“we”, “us”) operates the JyotishWay website and mobile app, providing Vedic astrology readings powered by astronomical calculation and AI. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights over it. Questions: amit.dubey.astroveda@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect

Account data — name, email address, and (for social sign-in) your provider profile id.
Birth data — the date, time, and place of birth you enter for yourself and any profiles you add. This is used to compute your chart. Birth time and place are treated as sensitive personal data.
AI Jyotish Guru conversations — the questions you type and the answers we generate are stored against your account, together with any 👍/👎 rating you give an answer. Questions often contain sensitive details (health, relationships, finances); please do not include information you would not want stored, and never include payment details or passwords.
Usage data — readings viewed, features used, app/device type, and crash diagnostics.
Payment data — handled by our payment processors (Razorpay, and Apple/Google via RevenueCat on mobile). We receive a transaction reference and status, never your full card details.

3. How we use it

To calculate your birth chart, dashas, doshas, yogas, compatibility, and daily readings.
To generate AI interpretations of your chart.
To operate your account, subscriptions, and purchases.
To send notifications you have opted into (e.g. daily readings, transit alerts).
To diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and improve the product.

4. Your AI Guru conversations

Your chat history is stored so the Guru can remember context within a conversation and so you can return to it later. In addition:

Human review. A small number of authorised JyotishWay staff can read stored conversations to check answer quality, investigate a complaint, and fix safety problems. Access is restricted and used for those purposes only.
Improving answers. We use conversations and your 👍/👎 ratings to find weak or unsafe responses and improve our prompts and guardrails.
No model training by us. We do not use your conversations to train our own AI models, and we do not sell or share them for advertising.
Your control. You can clear the Guru’s stored memory of you from the app at any time, and you can request deletion of your full chat history by contacting amit.dubey.astroveda@gmail.com. Deleting your account removes it as described in Retention below.

5. Service providers we share with

We share the minimum data needed with processors who act on our behalf:

Supabase (PostgreSQL database hosting) and Upstash (Redis cache) — store your data.
Railway and Vercel — application hosting.
Anthropic / OpenAI — generate AI reading text from chart facts, and answer your Guru questions. Chart inputs and the text of your questions are sent for this purpose; we do not send your name, email, or contact details for AI generation.
Razorpay and RevenueCat (with Apple App Store / Google Play) — process payments.
Sentry, PostHog, and Firebase — crash reporting and product analytics.
Expo push and Apple/Google — deliver push notifications.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Retention

We keep your account, birth data, and Guru conversations while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and India’s DPDP Act), you may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal data, and may withdraw consent for notifications at any time. To exercise any of these, contact amit.dubey.astroveda@gmail.com. You can delete saved profiles in the app at any time, and request full account deletion by email.

8. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access tokens are stored securely on your device. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

9. Children

JyotishWay is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
